The current address is only one part of the record
A statutory demand was sent around the time your company changed its registered office. Looking at today's address does not establish what the relevant records showed earlier or settle whether service was effective. Ask a lawyer to review the actual sequence. Preserve the demand, envelope and available delivery material while collecting the address-change evidence.
Record when the company decided to move, when the premises arrangement changed, when information was submitted to ASIC and what acknowledgement was received. Use documents for those dates rather than memory alone. Label any uncertain entry honestly. A spreadsheet made today should not be presented as a contemporaneous record of a step nobody can verify.
ASIC's address-change guidance describes reviewing the change, submitting it and saving a document acknowledgement. Obtain the actual acknowledgement and the information it relates to. Ask your corporate-records adviser about relevant historical records. The legal effect of the timing belongs with your lawyer; do not infer it simply from a portal screenshot or assume every address field changed together.
In a hypothetical example, the director believes the change was complete on Monday, but the administrator's submission record shows a later date. The creditor used the previous address between those events. Supply both records and explain the difference. This does not establish whether the demand was properly served; it identifies the precise factual issue requiring advice.
A contact address, principal place of business and registered office may appear in different records. Show the lawyer which field each document concerns. Do not substitute a changed email signature or postal redirection receipt for evidence about the registered office. Keep correspondence with the former occupier where it records receipt or forwarding of the particular demand.
Have the lawyer confirm the response required on the available evidence and identify any information still urgently needed. Continue that response while the historical record is clarified. The purpose of the timeline is to support an accurate service assessment, not to manufacture a later starting date or assume an administrative change removed an existing legal risk.
